Physician-Directed Injectable Treatment
Lip Fillers in Dallas, TX
Natural Enhancement. Defined Shape. Balanced Proportion.
Lip filler is one of the most requested injectable treatments — and one of the most frequently overdone. At Lakewood Med Spa, our approach is anatomy-first: we enhance your natural lip shape, restore age-related volume loss, and improve definition without creating an artificial or overfilled appearance.
Every lip treatment is planned by our physicians using precise anatomical assessment of your lip shape, proportions, and facial balance.
If your lips have always been thinner than you'd like — or you've noticed volume loss over time — you're not alone. Lip fillers are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments because the results are immediate, natural-looking, and completely customizable.
Our Approach
The Lakewood Approach to Lip Filler
The most common complaint patients bring to us is a previous lip filler result that looked unnatural — too large, too round, or with a visible "duck lip" appearance. This almost always results from injecting too much volume without regard for the patient's native lip anatomy, facial proportions, or the golden ratio of lip balance.
Our approach begins with assessment, not injection. We evaluate your upper-to-lower lip ratio, the projection of your vermilion border, the definition of your cupid's bow, the width of your philtrum columns, and how your lips relate to your nose and chin before recommending any treatment.
📐
Proportional Planning
We assess upper-to-lower lip ratio, facial thirds, and golden ratio proportions before recommending volume or product.
🎯
Anatomy-First Technique
Product is placed based on your native lip anatomy — not a standard template. Every lip is different.
🌿
Natural Results Standard
Our goal is always a lip that looks like a better version of yours — not someone else's lips.
🔄
Reversible
All lip fillers we use are hyaluronic acid-based and fully reversible with hyaluronidase if needed.
Treatment Goals
What Lip Filler Can Address
Lip filler is not one-size-fits-all. Different patients come with different goals — and different anatomical starting points. We treat the full range of lip concerns:
Volume Enhancement
Adding fullness to naturally thin lips or lips that have lost volume with age. We focus on proportional enhancement — not maximum volume.
Cupid's Bow Definition
Sharpening the peaks of the upper lip for a more defined, structured appearance without adding significant volume.
Vermilion Border Definition
Restoring or enhancing the lip border for a cleaner, more defined edge — particularly effective for patients with lip line blurring.
Philtrum Column Restoration
Enhancing the columns above the upper lip to restore the youthful 'M' shape of the upper lip and improve the appearance of the philtrum.
Lip Asymmetry Correction
Addressing natural or age-related asymmetry between the upper and lower lips, or between the left and right sides.
Perioral Line Treatment
Combining lip filler with fine smooth threads or Belotero to address vertical lip lines ('smoker's lines') around the mouth.
Age-Related Volume Loss
Restoring volume lost with aging — lips naturally thin and lose definition over time. Conservative restoration creates a naturally refreshed appearance.
Lower Lip Projection
Improving the projection and fullness of the lower lip for better upper-to-lower balance and a more youthful lip profile.
Products We Use
Lip Filler Product Selection
Not all lip fillers are the same. We carry the full range of HA fillers engineered specifically for lip treatment — each with different consistency, lift capacity, and longevity. The right product is selected based on your specific goals and lip anatomy.

Best for: Patients wanting definition over volume; perioral line treatment; first-time lip filler patients.
12 months typical
Juvederm Ultra XC

9–12 months typical
Belotero Balance
Perioral linesAn ultra-fine HA filler for superficial placement in the dermis. Ideal for treating vertical lip lines (perioral rhytids) that surround the mouth — an area where other fillers can appear too dense.
Best for: Perioral lines and lip line blurring; not typically used for lip volume.
6–9 months typical
Product selection is determined during your consultation after lip assessment. Many patients benefit from a combination of products in different areas of the lip.
Technique
How We Inject
Technique matters as much as product selection. The same filler placed with different techniques produces dramatically different results. We use a combination of approaches based on the specific goal for each area of the lip:
Linear Threading
Filler is deposited in a linear thread along the vermilion border or body of the lip for smooth, even distribution. Used for border definition and volume.
Serial Puncture
Small deposits placed at intervals along the lip border or body. Provides precise control over volume distribution and is ideal for asymmetry correction.
Retrograde Injection
Filler is deposited as the needle is withdrawn, reducing the risk of intravascular injection and allowing smooth, even placement.
Cannula Technique
A blunt-tipped cannula is used in certain areas to reduce bruising risk and allow smooth filler distribution — particularly useful in the body of the lip.
Philtrum Column Technique
Precise placement at the base of the philtrum columns to restore the youthful 'M' shape of the upper lip and improve the cupid's bow definition.
Wet Lip Technique
A conservative approach for first-time patients — small amounts of filler are placed to enhance shape and definition without dramatic volume change.
The Experience
What to Expect
01
Consultation
Your physician assesses your lip anatomy, proportions, and goals. A specific treatment plan is created — including product selection, placement zones, and volume recommendation.
02
Preparation
Topical numbing cream is applied for 20–30 minutes. Most HA lip fillers also contain lidocaine, which provides additional comfort during injection.
03
Treatment
Lip filler treatment typically takes 20–30 minutes. You will be asked to relax your lips throughout. A mirror is available so you can provide feedback during the session.
04
Immediate Results
Results are visible immediately, though initial swelling will make lips appear fuller than the final result. Swelling typically peaks at 24–48 hours and resolves over 5–7 days.
05
Final Results
Final results are visible at 2 weeks once all swelling has resolved. Most patients are very happy with results at this point. A touch-up appointment can be scheduled if desired.
06
Maintenance
Most lip fillers last 9–12 months. We recommend a maintenance appointment before the filler fully dissolves to maintain consistent results over time.
Important: The Swelling Rule
Lip filler swelling is significant and predictable. Do not judge your results for at least 2 weeks. Lips will look larger than the final result for the first 5–7 days — this is normal and expected. We will always schedule a 2-week follow-up to assess final results and determine whether any touch-up is needed.
Why Lakewood
Why Physician Direction Matters for Lip Filler
Vascular Safety
The lips contain significant vascular structures including the labial arteries. Intravascular injection is a rare but serious complication. Our physicians use careful aspiration, appropriate needle selection, and maintain hyaluronidase on-site for immediate reversal if needed.
Proportional Assessment
Lip filler placed without facial proportion analysis frequently produces results that look unnatural — even if the lips themselves look fine in isolation. We assess your entire lower face before recommending any treatment.
Conservative First Session
We always recommend starting conservatively, especially for new patients. It is easy to add more filler at a follow-up; it is more complex to dissolve and restart. A conservative first session allows us to assess your response and refine the plan.
Honest Candidacy
We will tell you if lip filler is not the right solution for your concern. Some patients are better served by PDO threads for perioral lines, or by addressing the surrounding facial structure before adding lip volume.
Pairs Well With
Combination Treatments
Lip filler produces its best results as part of a comprehensive lower face plan. These are the most clinically effective combinations:
Lip Filler + Neuromodulators
A small amount of neuromodulator placed in the orbicularis oris (lip flip) can enhance upper lip eversion and reduce gummy smile — complementing filler volume for a more complete result.
View Neuromodulators →Lip Filler + Dermal Fillers
Lip filler is most effective when the surrounding facial structure is also addressed — chin projection, jawline definition, and nasolabial fold treatment all influence how the lips appear in context.
View Dermal Fillers →Lip Filler + PDO Threads
Fine smooth PDO threads placed around the mouth address vertical perioral lines that lip filler cannot treat — a full perioral rejuvenation approach.
View PDO Threads →Lip Filler + Chemical Peel
A superficial chemical peel improves skin texture and fine lines around the mouth, complementing the structural improvement from lip filler for overall perioral rejuvenation.
